“Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream” winners Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley have ended their West End run.
The duo, who have been playing leads Sophie and Sky in the long-running ABBA-inspired musical, were plucked from obscurity after winning the ITV talent show “Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream” last year.
They immediately went into rehearsals and made their West End stage debuts at the beginning of this year. Their run was always scheduled to end Oct. 5. Both are keeping their next steps under wraps.
Izi Maxwell (“Six”) will be taking over as Sophie and Ben Irish (“Frozen the Musical”) as Sky.

“Safe to say that I had the absolute time of my life working with such a wonderful cast, truly a remarkable experience and incredible opportunity!,” Doc told Variety. “At times, the work was hard but both rewarding and enjoyable all the same- especially having the chance to work and learn from such experts like Anthony Van Laast and Martin Lowe. Whatever the future holds, I’m very grateful for time at the Novello Theatre and hope the best for the team!”
Turley said: “‘Mamma Mia!’ has been the gift that keeps on giving – from competing in the ITV show to performing in the West End, it has given me so many amazing opportunities and I will always be grateful for being a part of this wonderful show. The past 9 months have flown by and I’m going to miss the show and every single person involved. We’ve been like one big family so it’s going to be hard to say goodbye. The support from audiences has been out of this world – thanks to everyone that has come along on this journey with us. I’m really looking forward to what’s to come and hoping that people watch this space!”
Producer Judy Craymer, who created the stage show and subsequent films and was a judge on the talent show last year, said of the duo’s time on the West End production: “We have been so delighted to have the truly talented winners of ITV’s ‘Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream,’ Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley, play Sophie and Sky, and be a part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations. They are very much part of the ‘Mamma Mia!’ family now. Their time with us has flown by. We know they’ll be successful in whatever they do next.”
After the talent show ended, Craymer also sponsored Doc and Turley’s fellow contestant Maisie Waller to attend drama school. Waller will now be joining the West End production of “Mamma Mia!” in the ensemble from Oct. 7.
“I’m very proud of the TV show and how well all the contestants have done,” said Craymer. “It’s exactly what that show was for – shining a spotlight on new and emerging musical theatre talent.”
