The SCL SMA Round will see London Chargers and Wests Warriors play their fixtures against North Herts Crusaders and Hammersmith Hills Hoist as a double header at Wasps Rugby Union where a host of fundraising activity will take place.

Clubs from the rest of the SCL will also take part with the rest of Saturday’s fixtures including bucket collections and auctions to raise money for the charity.

Todd Peut explains: “Since Brodie’s diagnosis SMA UK have been there to help us as a family, and I really wanted to give back and raise awareness of the vital work they do.

“When I brought the idea of an SMA round to clubs during a Southern Conference League meeting at the beginning of the year I was blown away by the response. Every club has gone above and beyond with their support which I think proves just how much the Rugby League community looks after one another.

“We’ve already hosted an ANZAC v Great Britain friendly a few weeks ago which was brilliant so I would really encourage anyone in and around the area to come down and get involved – I can’t wait to see what this weekend brings.”

SMA UK CEO, Giles Lomax, says: "We are delighted that London Chargers and the RFL are supporting Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK. Having previously represented Scotland Rugby League professionally, I know firsthand, how well the Rugby League community comes together for events like this, and I have no doubt that it will raise not only funds but vital awareness of SMA.

“SMA has such a profound impact on children, individuals and families and receiving the news that a loved one has SMA can be devasting. Supporting anyone affected by or living with SMA is at the core of everything we do as a charity and we will continue to do everything we can do to be a leading advocate for individuals and families ensuring timely access to diagnosis, effective treatment and best management for all affected by SMA."

The Southern Conference League Spinal Muscular Atrophy round will take place on Saturday 1 June with all proceeds raised being donated to the charity. A full list of fixtures for Saturday can be found here. If you cannot attend on Saturday but would still like to donate you can visit Todd’s Just Giving page.
