Donald Trump has warned World War 3 could erupt if Kamala Harris wins the race to the White House in 2024.

Trump, 78, who is seeking to return to the Oval Office after losing in 2020, issued the warning as he met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago home.

The 45th President said: "We'll see how it goes. But if it all works out, if we win, it'll be very simple. It's all going to work out. And very quickly. If we don't, you're going to end up with major wars in the Middle East.

"And maybe a third World war. You are closer to a third World War right now than at any time since the Second World War. We've never been so close because we have incompetent people running the country."

Netanyahu was snapped with Trump in Florida after meeting Kamala Harris in Washington.

Trump claimed the Vice President, who is the frontrunner to secure the Democratic nomination after Joe Biden dropped out last Sunday, is "worse" on Middle East issues.

During Harris' meeting with Netanyahu, the Vice President told the Israeli Prime Minister: "I will always ensure that Israel is able to defend itself, including from Iran and Iran-backed militias such as Hamas and Hezbollah."

She added: "I also expressed with the Prime Minister my serious concern about the scale of human suffering in Gaza, including the death of far too many innocent civilians. And I made clear my serious concern about the dire humanitarian situation there."

Netanyahu made a number of explosive comments during his appearance at Congress on Wednesday.

He said: "Some of these protesters hold up signs proclaiming gays for Gaza. They might as well hold up signs saying ‘Chickens for KFC.’

"These protesters chant ‘From the river to the sea.’ But many don't have a clue what river and what sea they're talking about."

The conflict erupted in Gaza after Hamas slaughtered 1,200 people and took more than 200 Israelis hostage on October 7.

However, Israel is coming under pressure to pursue a ceasefire as the death toll in Gaza continues to soar.

More than 39,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its retaliatory attack, the Strip's Hamas-run Health Ministry has claimed.

Netanyahu's decision to join Trump in Mar-a-Lago resulted in pro-Palestine protesters gathering as he landed at West Palm Beach.

Protesters in Washington responded to his visit to Congress by burning an effigy of the Israeli Prime Minister and destroying a Star Spangled Banner.

Netanyahu shared an image alongside Trump as the pair met in Florida.

The Israeli Prime Minister presented the ex-President with a photo of one of the Bibas toddlers who is still being held captive by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

"Wow, that's very moving," Trump said, accepting the photograph. "We'll get that taken care of."

Opinion polls suggest Harris has closed Trump's lead since emerging as the Democratic Party's frontrunner.

Trump is registering 47.8 per cent compared to Harris' 45.7 per cent, aggregate polls compiled by The Hill have shown.

Opinion polls conducted by Emerson College importantly put Trump ahead in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Despite holding the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Harris has drawn level with Trump in Wisconsin.

Victory in November would ensure Trump joins Grover Cleveland as the only President to serve two non-consecutive terms in the Oval Office.
