England's Euro 2024 win against Switzerland left fans at Wimbledon and Edgbaston a little distracted as attendees erupted into celebration.

Novak Djokovic's match against Alexei Popyrin was halted when cheers and applause broke out on Centre Court.

The Three Lions secured a place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Saturday following a tense penalty shoot out.

Footage posted on social media shows Popyrin about to serve when the silence is broken by applause.

The world No 2 smiled at his opponent before mimicking a football kick in front of the crowd.

A few moments later, the match resumed.

Following his win, Djokovic said: "It felt for the first set and a half the crowd really wanted to understand what the score was!"

He then asked if England won and the crowd cheered before he added: "That's why you guys stayed.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"Congrats to England. I tried to shoot a penalty, I'm left-footed but Alexei defended it well."

Fans went crazy at No.1 Court, when an attendee caught a tennis ball at the same time England beat Switzerland on penalties.

Clapping and cheers rung out around the court as the fan celebrated both the England win and his incredible catch.

Wimbledon wasn't the only sporting venue to be infiltrated by England celebrations.

India and Pakistan's World Championship of Legends game was also interrupted.

Fans at Edgbaston were spotted in the concourses and watching the dramatic shoot-out, instead of the cricket.

A crowd of people from both countries were seen jumping and cheering as the winning penalty is taken.
