Strictly Come Dancing will feature its first drag queen contestant, the BBC has announced.
Drag artist and social media influencer Tayce Szura-Radix will take part in the dance show’s Christmas special.
The Welsh performer and former contestant on Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK will be the first drag queen to appear on Strictly.
The BBC said that Tayce would be paired with Kai Widdrington, a male dancer, in a statement which used she/her pronouns to refer to the drag performer.

Tayce, 30, said: “I cannot wait to ‘sleigh’ on the Strictly ballroom floor. My partner and I are going to dance for our lives.
“In all seriousness, it’s an incredible honour to be the first drag artist to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing. I hope I do all of my Drag Race and Welsh fans proud. Sign me up for all the glitz, glam and disco balls.”
Tayce was a finalist on the second series of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK, and also works as a model and rapper. The performer has presented for BBC Radio 1, MTV and Sky.
Tayce will be paired up in one of the six couples set to perform during the Strictly Christmas special, which airs in December.
