If you cancel your Ring subscription, you will no longer be able to save, review and share video recordings to your Ring account, and all of your recorded videos will be permanently deleted from the Ring cloud. Ring doorbell, ring

Ring doorbells are incredibly popular and are used to detect movement outside 's homes - even if you are not in. However, customers need to pay for a subscription to be able to view any footage captured by the camera. The company informed customers of the rise in emails sent out yesterday afternoon. The email said the rise was set to be introduced from March 11 and will apply to customers' first renewal date. Customers would see their plan renewed for the new price unless they cancelled it beforehand.

If you cancel your Ring subscription, you will no longer be able to save, review and share video recordings to your Ring account, and all of your recorded videos will be permanently deleted from the Ring cloud.

Customers took to social media to share their outrage at the price hike. One x - formerly Twitter - said the rise was "unjustifiable". They posted: "@ring your price increase is unjustifiable during a cost of living crisis!!! Thing is you know will pay it! What will it be next year? £10 a month - was only £2 when I joined 3 or 4 years ago!!!! #ripoffbritain #RingDoorbell"

A second asked the smart doorbell company why the price was going up again when the service had not changed. They said: "@ring just had an email to say that the annual subscription is going up from £34.99 to £49.99 in March. That is a 43% increase. How on earth can you justify that when the service won’t change? #notrenewing #RingDoorbell." Another accused the company of "profiteering. adding: "Shame on you!".

Natalie Hitchins, Which? Home Products and Services Editor, said: “Ring doorbells are popular for good reason but even before this latest price hike, Which? has highlighted the high cost of subscriptions as a factor that might put off some shoppers. At a time when many have been struggling with the cost of living, these latest hikes to monthly bills will be unwelcome. Ring must justify these steep increases to its customers, particularly when it is unclear how its services are improving.”
