A woman said she ended up bringing something she picked up from the store to a homemade food potluck, which didn't go over well with her sister.

In a recent post on Reddit’s “Am I the A—--,” a 25-year-old woman said that every month her sister, 28, and a group of friends from high school meet to “catch up and have a potluck dinner together.”

“This month they met at my sister’s place and she asked me if I wanted to join them,” the woman wrote.

The only rule, according to her sister, was that she “had to bring a homemade dish.”

“That’s one of the purposes of these gatherings, to give them a reason to cook something and take a break from fast-food,” the woman wrote.

However, things didn't go according to plan.

"I was supposed to make a roast chicken, but I honestly forgot to defrost it," she wrote. "So I ended up buying rotisserie chicken on my way to my sister’s house."

“I didn’t pretend I had made it, I was honest, none of her friends minded, and it’s not like I’d bought KFC,” she added.

But her sister wasn't having it.

“My sister looked bothered though, and when we were alone for a moment she told me I had to have warned them when I realized I wouldn’t be able to cook, and that it was rude of me to show up for the first time already disrespecting the rules of their group,” the woman wrote.

Unfortunately for her, the majority of Reddit commenters agreed.

“You had one job,” one commenter succinctly wrote, while another added, “you literally missed the entire point of the group. It makes you seem careless as you completely disregarded what your sister said.”

Others commenters said they needed more information about the situation.

“I'm also curious when she realized she forgot to thaw the chicken,” read one reply. “Like, was she about to head out and realized, 'S—, I was supposed to cook that chicken!?' Or did she realize her mistake hours before the get together when she still had time to pull something else together?”

Meanwhile, another commenter pointed out that there are plenty of other quick meals that you can throw together. “If you forgot to defrost, you should have pivoted to another homemade meal,” they wrote. “You could have made Mac and cheese or something.”

Although there were a few commenters who thought some people were reading too much into the situation — "a potluck isn't a life-or-death thing," read one reply — as others pointed out, no matter what you think, one outcome seems pretty clear.

As one commenter put it, "girl u ain't getting invited no mo."
