A Labour Government led by Sir Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner could raise taxes on households and reform certain inheritance tax relief rules.
Among the Labour leader’s pledges should he win the keys to No10 are plans not to increase fuel duty, national insurance and VAT.
However, he has so far remained tight-lipped about his plans for the better off amid reports of plans for wealth taxes.
In a sit-down interview with GB News, he remained silent on tax increases such as new council tax bands to force those in bigger homes to pay more to town halls.
He also refused four times to say that he would pay for his children to be treated privately if they were ill because of his commitment to the NHS and his desire not to be seen queue-jumping.
Starmer has also expressed his plans for the tens of thousands of migrants crossing the English Channel in small boats.
His manifesto commits his party to stopping the chaos, rather thanas the Tories saystopping the boats.
Rayner yesterday said that every borough in the UK will have to take its “fair share” of migrants if Labour wins the July 4 election.
The deputy Labour leader also confirmed successful asylum seekers would be eligible for places in the 1.5 million new social housing and homes built under Labour.
Speaking about the proposal, Rayner told the BBC: “Every borough has an obligation to take on their fair share of asylum seekers, but not everyone in hotels that are currently in hotels will be given a right to remain in the UK.
“Some of them shouldn’t be in the UK, but they’re in the UK and they’re costing taxpayers lots of money because we are not treating people fairly and dealing with the backlog.
“That’s what Labour’s going to do, and that will cost us a lot less if we process people fairly, humanely, and those that have a right to be here are treated with the respect and dignity that the British people would expect us to.
“For people who are genuinely seeking asylum, those that shouldn’t be here will be removed.”
