Passengers at Heathrow Airport are describing 'chaos' after a technical blunder caused baggage delays.
Travellers have been forced to wait for more than an hour for their baggage, with some claiming they've had to leave the airport without their belongings.
Taking to X, one person wrote: "Chaos at Heathrow terminal 5. No information. IT system down. We waited one and a half hours for baggage and are now on our way home without bags.
"We have to claim and have them delivered. Information would have been goodno one to say what was happening."
Another person added: "Hey @HeathrowAirport Where's my baggage? Been waiting at terminal 5 for BA929 luggage from Tirana, but nothing has been delivered. You've made a weird announcement that we've got to wait for 2 hours before we can fill in a form. WHAT'S HAPPENING?"
A spokesperson for Heathrow Airport responded: "We are sorry to hear that you have not yet received your luggage, and can appreciate the frustration caused."
Delays have also been reported at Heathrow Terminal 5, with one person writing: "Absolute disgrace, @British_Airways landed on flight BA0491 at Heathrow Terminal 3 one hour 30 mins ago and still don’t have any luggage. Communication as to what’s going on is also appalling. Sort it out!!"
BA has been approached for comment.
A Heathrow spokesperson said: “We are supporting British Airways with a technical issue with their Allocation System.
“We advise passengers to check with BA before travelling to the airport. BA passengers in Terminals 5 may be impacted, and are advised to contact BA for assistance. No other airline is impacted.”
